CREATE YOUR AT HOME ROUTINE

The previous years have taught me a lot, targeting and highlighting areas of my life I took for granted. But 2022 has a new feel and vibe – I am eager to set new goals and be consistent in achieving them and I am sure you are too, right?

As living in Miami, a crazy city that never sleeps, it is essential for me more than ever to pause, slow down and unwind without work stress and living the hustle life 24/7. I need some ME time. I realized that everyone, and when I say everyone, I really mean everyone should have a self-care regimen. A time of the day where they unwind and become present with themselves. In this blog post, I will be sharing with you 3 ways on how I practice my self-care regimen while giving you some tips and tricks if you are new to an at-home regimen. Hopefully this will give you some ideas on how to practice it at your own home. Let’s get started, shall we?

 

What is Self Care?

The dictionary definition defines self-care as “the practice of taking action to preserve or improve one's own health”. I want to emphasize that maintaining yourself through essential self-care (sleep, food, hydration, and scheduled rest) is an attainable goal, and it is ok for it to be the primary focus.
The most modern and common form of self-care is investing in good skincare and body products. And I agree, there is nothing compared to the feeling of washing the days' stress and dead skin cells off your face with your favorite face wash. Here is how I practice myself care regimen on a daily basis.
Meditate
I start each day with a few quiet moments to ground myself. The best way that I learned how to meditate was by first putting my phone on airplane mode and blocking out all that noise, even if it's just five mins. Wake up and put your phone away, don’t look at it and just be present with yourself. Take over your world at that moment. There is nothing you can’t achieve if you put your mind into it. You will be surprised at the difference this will make in how the rest of your day goes.
Skincare
Once meditation is over, then comes my skincare regimen (my actual favorite time of the day!) Turn your skin care routine into a self-care ritual, your skincare routine should be something you enjoy, and taking the time to focus on yourself reaps mind, body, and beauty benefits. An effective and efficient skin care routine is a therapeutic process that will help you feel your best. My ultimate favorite skincare regimen is the Getting Skin Ready by Zo Skin health. It has everything your skin needs to feel it’s best. It comes with a cleanser, exfoliator, and a toner. Not only will it make you feel like you are doing an at-home spa treatment, but the results are impeccable. These 3 products will leave your skin brighter, cleaner and softer. The best tip I have for these products is to leave your cleanser as well as your exfoliator in the shower to really reap the benefits of an at home facial. The steam from your shower will help penetrate the products better for even greater results!
Exercise
Another great way of unwinding for me is by exercising. If you are like me, you are not a huge fan of the gym and you find any excuses to not go to the gym, don’t worry I get it. Going to the gym is not everyone's cup of tea, that's where yoga comes in. I started incorporating yoga into my self-care routine about two years ago and believe me, I will never go back! Yoga is proven to reduce stress and improve relaxation. Yoga has helped expand my mindfulness and taught me how to be present with myself and enjoy the little things in life. Incorporating yoga or any exercises into your daily routine can quickly change your ways of thinking and can bring you such positivity into your life.

      In essence, all self-care acts are a way to disconnect from your fast-paced life and find a bit of semblance and happiness in doing things that we often sideline and deprioritize over work. I hope that the above tips make it easy for you to get into a flexible and affordable routine that benefits your overall well-being and helps you reach a new level of mindfulness.
